The Governing Board and Its Multi-sectoral Group Conduct their 3rd Quarter Meeting for 2018
The Tumaga River Water Quality Management Area Governing Board and its Multi-sectoral Group (MSG) conducted their 2018 3rd quarter meeting on August 23, 2018 at the Skyview Convention Hall, Grand Astoria Hotel, Zone II, Zamboanga City. During the meeting that was presided by For. Gerry R. Pollisco of the Office of City Mayor, the Board adopted the proposed 2020 Work and Financial Plan (WFP) for the Tumaga River Water Quality Management Area. Activities in the Plan include the conduct of IEC campaign on onsite segregation, recycling, composting, and sanitation and the provision of streamside vegetation along the riparian zone of the River.
To address the discharge of solid wastes in the water and along the banks especially at the midstream and downstream sections of the River, the Board approved a resolution urging the barangays within the Tumaga River WQMA to establish a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in their area of jurisdiction in compliance with Republic Act No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

The Multi-sectoral Group (MSG), on the other hand, approved the conduct of an IEC campaign on solid waste management and environmental sanitation to households along the easement of the Tumaga River on October 18, 2018. The MSG meeting was presided by Hon. Samuel P. Natividad of Barangay Guiwan.
The MSG also discussed issues regarding the operation of waste-generating establishments in the Pasonanca Natural Park and was updated by the EMB IX secretariat on the conduct of pollution source mapping along the Tumaga River.
